Day 2-6. Activities
Lake Inari Snowmobile Adventure
This day is all about the local winter fun – snowmobiling on the frozen Lake Inari! Guide will teach you how to cope with these powerful machines, and after a full safety and driving lesson you will head out to Lake Inari and its surroundings. Snowmobiling through white winter scenery is a breathtaking experience that will last for a lifetime. During the day, there will be ice fishing and lunch by open fire.
Husky safari is a ‘must do’ experience when visiting Lapland. You will be taught how to handle the sled before you head out for the husky safari, where the huskies will pull your sled through the beautiful winter scenery. Enjoy the excitement of the dogs before the start, and the serene silence once they get to do what they love – run in the snowy scenery. You will have lunch before or after the activity, and the musher will also show you around the husky farm. All our husky safaris are based on two people sharing a sled unless otherwise stated.
This snowshoeing trip is perfect for anyone who wishes to try snowshoes, without too much of an effort. With gentle snowshoeing, you get the light exercise, relaxing atmosphere from the nature and peaceful experience.
Cross Country Skiing
This traditional Finnish winter sport is definitely something you have to try at least once in your life. In the old times, cross country skiing used to be the most common method of transportation, and all Finns have this skill in their blood. There is no more silent method to go through frozen and snowy sceneries than cross country skis. Guide will teach you how to use the skis, and once everyone’s got the hang of it, we will have a nice loop in the surrounding nature.
Reindeer Farm Visit
Meeting a local reindeer herder with his peaceful reindeer is one of the top memories for our visitors. At the reindeer farm you will learn interesting information about the reindeer and the life of a reindeer herder. This guided trip will be made by car.
Visit to Sámi Museum Siida
Visit to the Sámi Museum Siida is a nice change for outdoor activities. The museum is fairly small and cozy, and it’s full of information about Sámi culture and history as well as life and nature up in the north. In addition to the permanent exhibitions, the museum usually has 1-3 seasonally changing temporary exhibitions.
This trip takes you to one of our specifically chosen camp spots, where we will try to catch the northern lights. You will be comfortably seated in a sledge, pulled by a guide’s snowmobile. We will have open fire and warm drinks while waiting for the sky to show its magic.
Experience the amazing atmosphere of old forests on this relaxing snowshoe walk to the aurora camp spot. Walking in the dark forests companied by the light of the moon and dance of the northern lights is unforgettable. Warm up by the campfire and wait for the auroras to show up, while warm drinks are prepared on the open fire.
Sámi Culture evening with Lappish dinner
This evening-based dinner activity is one of a kind in Inari region. You will be presented interesting views for Sámi culture, from a real Sámi person, dressed in traditional costume. During this evening, you will enjoy traditional Lappish foods and delicacies.
