Wilderness Hotel Nellim is the perfect place for those who are looking for adventure coupled with relaxation in a unique wilderness of Lake Inari
Day 1. Arrival
We’ll welcome you at the airport with a Nellim sign and transfer you to the Nellim Wilderness Hotel. Upon arrival you will receive your program schedule before dinner. You will overnight in cozy and rustic accommodation. Depending on your arrival time, cold weather gear is given to you either upon arrival or the next day.
Day 2. Reindeer Day
Today you will depart on a snowmobile safari to a reindeer farm where you will meet the herder and learn about the importance of reindeer in Lapland. You will learn how to lasso a reindeer and if you’re lucky the reindeer might come and eat out of your hands. After the farm visit we will visit the Russian border and Nellim church before we head out on the lake for ice fishing. With a bit of luck you might catch something. A picnic lunch will be served by the open fire during the day. Please note that the order of the program might change. Duration app 4-5 hrs.
This evening you will adventure into the forests of Nellim with snowshoes. Our guide will take you to the best camp spots in chance of seeing the amazing Northern Lights. Enjoy warm drinks by the open fire while observing the sky.
Day 3. Wilderness Snowmobile Safari
After breakfast we will have a lesson on how to drive snowmobiles. When everyone feels comfy with these machines, we will go for a snowmobile safari through the forests and over lakes in a beautiful frozen surrounding. Once back at the hotel take a relaxing sauna and savor a delicious dinner later in the evening.
Day 4. Snowshoeing trip
After breakfast it’s time to go for a snowshoeing trip. Follow trails through the snowy forest and enjoy the pure air and lovely winter scenery. Our talented guides are more than happy to answer any questions. We will have a light picnic lunch by the open fire during the day. Program takes app. 3-4 hrs. Sauna and dinner in the evening.
Day 5. Cross Country Skiing
After breakfast it’s time to do some cross country skiing. Our guide will give you a skiing lesson and after this it is possible to rent the skis and go gliding on some of the marked skiing tracks nearby. Duration app. 2hrs.
Our Aurora camp locates on an island amidst the endless frozen ice of Lake Inari. It is a remote place far from any light pollution making it a perfect place to see the Northern Lights in the sky.
Day 6. Husky Safari
Today you will meet the husky musher and you will be taught how to handle a sled before embarking on a husky safari. The huskies will pull your sled through the beautiful winter scenery. During the safari stops are made for taking photographs. After the safari you lunch is served in our hotel´s restaurant. Sauna is available from the afternoon and dinner will be set in the restaurant.
Day 7. Departure
Return to Ivalo airport. After breakfast you will be transferred back to the airport under the same comfortable conditions offered on arrival.

All safaris start with full safety instructions. Your experienced guides will show you how to drive your snowmobile and provide you with a full safety briefing before you hit the trails. All snacks and drinks are included in the price of the trip. We provide thermal overalls, mittens, balaclava, thermal socks, winter boots and helmet for the snowmobile safaris. Children 4-14 years will be in a sleigh pulled by your guide with snowmobile price reduction -30%.
All snowmobile safaris have a self-liability of maximum 800 €/snowmobile.
